In 1653 Torre Abbey was sold to Sir John Stawell (1625-1669) of Parke in the parish of Bovey Tracey, Devon (whose mural monument survives in Bovey Tracey Church), a counsellor-at-law. Torre Abbey is a must when visiting Torquay, there is so much history to be resourced. The staff were friendly and helpful. There are robotic talks to be had (very interesting) from the beginning to today. Café was clean, tidy and staff friendly, very busy though.
