Keiller's marmalade – Wikipedia

I started eating it with breakfast muffins when I worked in Scotland in the 1990's. Unlike most other marmalades that seem to be super-sweet, Keiller Orange Marmalade is made with Seville Oranges, which are noted for their slightly bitter flavor. Its cargo included Seville oranges which were purchased on speculation by a Dundee grocer called James Keiller. It was Mrs. Keiller who saw the potential of these bitter Spanish oranges. She boiled the oranges with sugar and the resulting product was the delicious preserve now known as Dundee Orange Marmalade. In 1876, when the British Trademark Registry Act came into force, Keiller's Dundee Orange Marmalade was one of the first brands to be formally registered. It is believed that James Keiller and Son was also the first to produce Dundee cake commercially and to give it the distinctive name.
